Recreating VHS-style blurry imagery through traditional painting techniques, Kon Trubovich has created a really unique visual style. His work definitely shares a similarity with the photo-painting style of Gerard Richter, which is always a thumbs up in our books.
“The source videos that were disrupted during the creation of this video were appropriated from the contemporary Western culture industry: World Trade Center (starring Nicolas Cage, 2006) and Hiroshima: BBC History of World War II (2005). The audio was created by using Audacity to convert a .TIF formatted screenshot of the video into an .MP3 audio file.”
